Studies show that taking ownership of spaces can improve people’s perceived satisfaction of that space. In a recent competition for British Land, we used this philosophy to design an office reception for the future that focused on the wellness of the building’s occupants.
The space was designed to encourage occupiers to engage with their environment through a programme of events and pop-ups; improving wellness through increased social interaction and improved relationships at work. Flexible wall panels were designed to provide temporary exhibition space for local artists or tenants, aiming to add interest and variation to tenant’s daily routine. The openable panels could also provide temporary kiosk space for pop-up vendors or health foods.
